By: VanessaJean Home

The inside of your computer can get ridiculously dirty. In addition, the outside, if gets dirty, is not only unsightly but can damage your computer and spread infection. You should clean your computer frequently following these tips.

First things first: make sure everything is turned off. While you clean your computer, desktop or laptop, make sure it is not plugged in and is switched off.
Do not spray anything directly on any on the components of your computer. Instead, spray on a piece of cloth and se the cloth to wipe the dirt off your computer very gently.
The solvent you use should have no toxic substances as you can get an allergy and the case may be damaged too. Instead go for water to dampen the cloth, or a highly diluted liquid. Alcohol is an option too.
Do not vacuum the inside of your computer as that generates electricity and can harm your system. For the keyboard and the outside though, you can use a vacuum set on moderate pressure to suck off the dust particles.
When you are cleaning the inside of a computer make sure you do not touch the chords and the cards too much.
Now, let’s get started with the cleaning. Following are the general tips and procedures for cleaning up your computer’s monitor, case, and keyboard.
Case cleaning
Take a clean, lint free piece of cloth and spray a little amount of water on it to dampen it a bit. Wipe off the dust from the case, concentrating on holes and vents. For the stubborn stains, you can use a biodegradable detergent.
Monitor/ LCD cleaning
For monitors use a clean piece of lint free cloth sprayed with a good quality glass cleaner. As mentioned earlier, do not spray directly on the screen. Make sure no vents have been obstructed. You can use a vacuum to get rid of the trapped dust particles.
For LCD, do not use a paper towel as it may scratch it up. Use a soft cotton cloth instead and dampen it with alcohol. LCD cleaners are easily available at computer stores.
Keyboard
Initially, simply turn the keyboard upside down giving it a gentle shake. You will see some large particles fall off. Clean the dust off between the keys suing a damp cotton bud. Using ear buds dampened with alcohol, not dripping wet of course can be of much help.
Prevent your computer from getting ridiculously dirty by not eating and drinking near it. Also, prevent smoke to reach your computer to keep it safe and clean.
